Another piece dedicated to my first love ... many years ago now, but still he is with me in spirit.

TO MY FIRST LOVE......

I thought of you yesterday, and my mind fled back
to all those years ago, when we were young and I was oh so much in love with you.
I smiled when I remembered the fun things we would do - chasing each other and playing those silly games - clapping hands so hard together, we wound up laughing till tears came in our eyes.
I remembered also the picnics our families would go on, and when we would all go swimming in the river -you so bold as to whistle at me in my costume!
How great life was then ......
I remembered the kids on our block would yell out that we loved each other - over and over again.
How I hoped that would be......
But my life changed so drastically that fatal April morning, when my Dad woke me with the news that you had been killed in your car.
How ugly life was then.....
I remembered the tears and the pain of losing you -
How much I wished it wasn't so.
But life and love went on for me, and though it's taken many years for me to put my thoughts of you to words, I have - and am oh so glad I did.

Writing it down does help, doesn't it, Roniece. Such a tragic thing to go through. My thoughts go out to you.

Roniece
How sad a loss and yet now you remember the joy, but we never forget our first love.
This is so well written

My heart goes out to you.  It is a sad thing to lose a friend that way.  This is a very touching tribute to him though.  and as long as you remember, he will live on through you and your precious memories.

This piece sure touched a nerve with me. Lost my best friend in a car accident when I was 19.  Somehow, they never leave the deep recesses of our minds, where we store those memories that touch us beyond words.
Thought you did a wonderful job writing this piece.

I, too, have experienced a loss such as this  - The memories remain in a corner of our hearts forever, don't they?  I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.  The one we've lost shouldn't ever be forgotten...

This is a wonderful tribute, Roniece..

Roneice ----oh sigh, oh how sad.
I am glad you are getting it on paper
now to share with us. And, glad you found
a new love in life -- Life can be so
cruel sometimes.   First loves are always
so touching -- no matter how they end.

This is just tragic and so sad.

Thanks for sharing,

Oh, I am so terribly sorry!  I'm so glad you're writing of it, though - it is a treasure to keep forever.

Dear Roniece

Dead is not stronger than love. Love never dies. Your first love is near you even if you cannot see him. He is living a different, perhaps, better life. He never forgot you!
Actually, we do not know who we are and what we are doing on the earth but we feel that love, intense love, is a divine thing and always survives! Have a fine memory of your first love as dead never happened!
