The Goddess Aurora

Dark gods crawl from forest moss
to fight the fire lord
shadows dance of battles wrought
when camp fires start to roar.

In summers night of far far north
Polaris watches bored
while fire mites, will mesmerize
in trance, above the quiet moors

These sounds that mock, harken not
her footfalls to my ear
and crackling fires, spark desire
for the Goddess to appear

She comes at night in pulsing light
a temptress from the north
on forest spires, with incandescent fires
she dances, to find her Earth'n Lord

On this night an age old rite,
in circles of all Druids before
and Irish men, pure of sin
will dance, to have her sweet reward

In waves of light, she comes tonight
through heavens gateless door
and touches ground, on holy mounds
to dance in ancient Celtic lore

Oh queen of light, behold tonight
this bounty for your choice
choose the one, of sweetest love
and in his dance rejoice

With a roaring chant they began a dance
with thunder through the moors
a thousand men, for a challenge to win
and the hand of the Goddess Aurora.....

To this day they ne'er say
though 'tis a myth, to modern man
they whisper for a chance
and they dance the fire dance

As Aurora descends to the fires of the moors..

Is it too much to hold you close.
Is it too much to find a reason,
Is it too much to free my soul --
From self control ...
And I know you're always waiting for me ...
You take me far away,
And I know you're holding me ...
And it's better now ...

The sacred fires eternally kept
reaching towards the heavens,
as Beltaine's festival approaches,
stirring up the embers of fertility,
for the Goddess Bel,
for whom the flames lick.

Young lovers given to her call,
light reflects upon the forest
and there they leap across the flames
the whole night long,
going "A Maying."

Lovely poem, Parker.

This is very well written James.  It really reminds me of your " Aurora's Light" you wrote long ago.  So i take it this is your " little light"...

This is a sweet reward. I'm drawn in the fire dance like a moth among the moors.

I couldn't resist!  It has been going through my head since you posted this.

Have you seen the sky tonight,
Lets walk together and share the sight.
Aurora from the north has come,
To amaze our eye's with a dance above.
She brings the golden fairies of the night,
The dancers of the rainbows light.

netswan, thank you, your very kind.

tracie66, thank you for the big Wow.

insect, I thought I saw you flying about.

Marina, since you posted my old poem...here the whole version.

Aurora's Light

Have you seen the sky tonight,
Lets walk together and share the sight.
Aurora from the north has come,
To amaze our eye's with a dance above.
She brings the golden fairies of the night,
The dancers of the rainbows light.
Hold my hand, hold it tight
I see your eyes, so clear, so bright
they sparkle in the northern lights
and in this stardust from nursery rhymes
I want to kiss you in this magic time
To feel the pulse of you body tonight
and make sweet love in Aurora's Light.

serenity, thank you and exactly what do I have you wondering?

Butterflies, so you got away at the end, gotta keep those captivation knots tighter.

thank you everyone for your kind replies.

Lizzie, thank you, that spell wears off, after you do the Fire dance in public.

Butterflies, and you flutter so sweetly.
