Twilight

The Hand of the Artist swift brushes the sky
With pale pinkish color set over the blue
Soft opal beams from the clouds overlie
Magnificent streaks of an amethyst hue

He dabbles His brush into tints on His palette
As greys of the twilight burst out into gold
Then rapidly changing to deep royal purple
As blending of brush strokes the splendor unfolds

A corner of aureate light slowly fading
Turns emerald green field into copper and bronze
The Artist then darkens the colors to shading
And erases reflection on rivers and ponds

As nighttime approaches the blue-blacks yet deepen
With uplifted eyes we look on from afar
The sky is enriched and our rapture is steepened
As He sprinkles the heavens with little white stars

Liz, your poems are many, subjects diverse, but this one HAS to be very nearly my favorite of yours...this, to my way of thinking, is a masterpiece, both in craft and thought.

You are quite the natural, and I remain your poetic admirer.

Janet Marie, Thanks for the palette. Gees, everyone's putting me to shame with their graphics
Thank you so much

Claire, I don't even know what to say to you. Those remarks are very warming from a poet of your caliber. Thank you, dear

Liz,

This is wonderful!!! I tried to write about a sunset recently, I wanted to make it seem like it was painted in by God but I couldn't manage it. You have done a beautiful image of it...simply lovely. You are a poet of awe inspiring caliber.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

This particular piece should be given to every atheist in the world...just to show them who is in charge!  Remarkable piece from an equally remarkable person.
