The Artist

When winter bids its last farewell
And tiny seeds begin to swell
When breeze is filled with song of thrush
The Artist takes in hand His brush

He covers over winter’s hue
And paints the sky a bluer blue
He daubs the yellow daffodil,
Forsythia on edge of hill

He dabbles paint on tulip bed
Of yellow, purple, pink and red
Then stipples pink on dogwood’s trim
And lavender on redbud limb

The greens of leaf begin to show
And grassy fields now void of snow
The woods of March’s grey and brown
Are donned in pretty pastel gown

There’s nothing like the Artist’s touch
To paint the spring we love so much
And when He lays His paintbrush down
We gaze at canvas field and town

We honor spring as well we should
The Artist whispers, “This is good”

Ahh... "This is good." Indeed, very good. I love it! The way you convey your message without needing to say "GOD!". The simple refrences to the Artist, and the capital He's bring your point across quite clearly. And the beautiful refrences to all the colors of Spring and the brushstrokes, and the awe, it's wonderful. I don't think there is a poet out there who hasn't walked outside on a Spring day and felt this kind of breathtaking wonder. Beautiful!

Liz, you are an artist too
and paint a spring time's vivid hue
and when I look it's understood
that what I read is very good!

Hugs!

Elizabeth,

I am honoured to have read this amazing piece.

The Artist Himself will say "This is good"

Thanks for such beautiful words. I am moved and my voice has been transaformed into a stutter.....

Beautiful work. It brought a tear to my eye, and made me remember to thank God for the beautiful Spring weather I'm enjoying here right now.   Thanks for the reminder.

Liz~
Suggest you change "His" to "Her".
(Just kidding) Although my wife is probably more artistic when it comes to colors and painting landscapes. Nicely done. I enjoyed it.
best regards,
