This Little Light of Mine

I am the daughter of Earth, built in the sky
Feverishly clinging to how, when, and why
It is my one and only this ancient one
From ashes to ashes and dust to dust, it has been flung
It knows of birth and past lessons learnt
Memory exceeding beyond body burnt
It speaks to angels in time of need
Devouring unmistakable messages from which it feeds
The pulse in the veins and fire of the heart
Not the mind, but soul, which held the key from start
My flesh and blood, it does not control but consumes
It is years of self-taught wisdom from which it bloomed
Once an unborn child that had grown in womb
Will inevitably be replaced by ghost from tomb
Again and again to rise up and be rebuilt
Assembling once more with only love, never guilt.

Well done!  Truth be told, the title had me humming the little verse, so I had to re-read this three times to truly get your meaning...which, had I not had the verse/song in my head, would have come through much easier.  Much truth in what you said!

True words here, Marina. We are all little "Phoenix's" continually rising up from our ashes to begin again. I've made an ash of myself so many times, I've lost count!

This is excellent writing....

Excellent Marina. . . this is one of the best things that you have written. . . and we all do remake ourselves over and over again. . . hoping that someday we get it right. . .

Hopefully, this time is it. . .

Marina...this is EXCEPTIONAL!!!
Yes...one of your finest pieces to date...
you should be very pleased and proud of this one.
your heart, soul, and strong inner spirit shine in every line.
Obviously the end result of some deep soul searching...
(I understand)
results of perfection, for sure.
They can knock us down...but they should NEVER count us out...not while were stiil breathing and writing.
take care my friend, and thank you for this poem...inspires my own muse's soul...(smile)

Is it too much to hold you close.
Is it too much to find a reason,
Is it too much to free my soul --
From self control ...
And I know you're always waiting for me ...
You take me far away,
And I know you're holding me ...
And it's better now ...

Marina~
There is much truth in your words here.

I believe the light of our spirit never burns out, but glows eternally.

Nicely phrased poetic views you've got here.

Sunshine and Balladeer, thank you very much.  It is a strong belief of mine.

Sven, this is my favourite too.  I like because I was able to express my beliefs in a way I hadn't been able too before.  Your compliment means a great deal to me....your too sweet.

Amy, I hope your right and thank you for your compliment.  I always look forward to your posts.

Jeffery, now whose being sweet??? Thank you very much my little Spades partner.

Jm, girl what can I say.  Somehow I knew you would see so much into this. I thank you for your compliment, it means a great deal to me coming for one with so much talent.  I also thank you for all for support.... you have been my rock.

Marge, thank you very much.  I'm not sure how poetic they are, but most certainly my views on the hereafter.

From dust and ashes a poet was begot
She wrote of the cycles of what and what not
From beginning to end, from the end to the start.
Her verse has enraptured and captured my heart
Yes, One of my favorites, also

This is a beautiful poem, and so true. We are all re-born, in one way or another.
