Memories
Was walking down memory lane,
Was walking on the beach,
Throttling the feelings of pain,
Keeping doubts out of reach.

Had a look at the sands of time
The hours when time itself stood still,
Could hear distant bells chime,
And I was walking while I still stood still!

Felt the heat of the sun beating,
Could sense an awe that the past left,
Saw the sheath of life fleeting,
Glimpses of what was there were best.

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

A heart-felt thanks for all your appreciative comments. I will try and not disappoint you with my writings.

Regards,
Sudhir.

Take each day as it comes,
Consider each day as a flight,
Try hard to succeed and fly,
Surely then you will reach some height.

But if by some chance you don’t,
Remember that tomorrow will always come.
Learn this well and learn this hard
That today’s efforts will pay for tomorrow’s fun.

Thank you Denise.

Though the past is gone, tomorrow is yet to come, while all we have in hand is the present, it is a tribute to the mind and the memories that it holds, to remind us of the good and bad of life thus far....

Good memories make one happy, while the bad ones make us sad. What I believe is that we should try and learn some thing from the bad parts, and strive to be happy and contented as far as the human minds lets us be...

Thanks once again for your view, and many regards - Sudhir

This is to thank all that helped me so far with my work. At the same time for all new ones to have a look at this one..

Enjoy....

Though many come just to look at it,
A very few actually come to enjoy it.

I am so very glad you brought this back for those of us who missed it the first time...

You have charmed this Passions person with your words...

and as far as this piece goes, it struck me as "being outside" of yourself...and waving back...

well done, Sudhir!

Karilea,

Thank you for your words of appreciation. I am feeling like on cloud #9...

Regards,
Sudhir

P.S. This was one of my first meaningful poems written, about 3 years back. Till then, I stuck to writing essays and prose.
Frankly I never opened up my diaries of poems to an audience (except my trusted friends who would read it from the diaries) before this one was posted here...

Sudhir, I know I'm a little late in my welcome.  I am new myself.  This poem is so beautiful.  The ocean is such a great inspiration.  Being there by yourself, alone, thinking, .....  I can see you have that source of inspiration too.  Good job.

Now in replying to something as old as this poem is, would it be best of me to address you as you are today, or as you were then?

Sudhir, if you could see two and a half years ahead of the time of this post, you would not believe what memories will be built for you in this place.  Someday you will hold the respect of the greatest writers of Passions, as well as a seat in their residence.

How ironic, that your legacy as a poet begins with one devoted to your memory.  You write poetry of your memory, when you yet have no memory of your poetry... heh...

You wrote this excellently.  I would expect no less than this from you, Sudhir.  You are a truly talented man.

Welcome to Passions.
