Eyes as cold as arctic ice,
His lips a thin, grim line,
It's only in the closer's role
His talents seem to shine.
Three balls, two strikes,
And two men out,
The winning run on third -
Ah, this is what it's all about,
He must strike out this bird.
He checks the runner from the stretch,
He kicks and he delivers -
The crack of wood on ball so loud
The very ball park quivers.
A bird? A plane? A rifle shot?
To travel with such verve?
Ah, no, I greatly fear it was-
Our closer's hanging curve.

To be the "Closer", all eyes focused on the mound, game in the balance, a single pitch, to win or lose, what a rush it must be!
Nice write GS~~~

Another masterpiece, GS.  But, alas, much too short. *smile*

Not being a baseball fan, I still enjoyed this! It must be a thrill, unless of course, the opponant scores, then it must be the worst feeling in the world.

Fantasico! I'm one who has to be there and watch it, rather do that, than watch on tv. Just not the same! I can feel the excitement here
