              The Bombing of a Nation

The peace was shattered on an April day
men, women, children, became the prey
disturbed minds with a bomb in hand
a message sent thru a peaceful land

on a day unlike any other day
168 lives had not a minute to pray
in a moment of infamy, was it fate?
or just two people filled with hate

a Federal building, target of choice
to receive a message without a voice
take innocent lives was the plot
to their surprise, were quickly caught

a terrorist attack on American soil
by evil men with soul's disloyal
a bomb exploded, and a country changed
by desparate men with minds deranged

a memorial wall where many lives lost
theft of our security, the ultimate cost
on sacred soil a tribute now to see
a sad reminder, in the land of the free

Hey Danny,
This was a beautiful tribute to those lost in
this heinous attack.
This was a horrifying event indeed.
I'm glad that these innocent people are not forgotten. Well done Danny

you shine too my poetic pal...
this is perfect...
and very sweetly cool of you.

somethings should not be forgotten...
somethings can NEVER be forgotten.

thank you for the reminder and the tribute
your soul and kind heart are showing again*S*
take care my BEH.

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Wonderful description of this sad time in our history and a reminder of how dangerous and evil it is to let hate linger in your mind.   James

Thank you to all who have responded to this poem.
April 19th was the 5 year anniversary of the bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.  168 people were killed in that bombing, 19 were children.

Danny....excellent post.  Very touching tribute to those who were lost.  it is truly sad that things like this happen in the world today...
