a mothers face
in time of grace
with voice as soft as snow
with teary eyes
and silent cries
that only I could know
so when she came unto me
with a pain I could see
to ask me a painfully simple question
I felt torn inside
and wanted to hide
yet never moved nor made hesitation
with a voice broken from years
and soaked from midnight tears
she asked me if I was in special forces
I told her no ma'am
I'm just a paper ham
that was a different set of courses
as tears fill her eyes
she says as she cries
my son died in that long ago
as the tears start to fall
she sits alone out of all
and cries tears I'll always know
where ever they died
for the loved ones that cried
I will always stand tall
alone or united
confused or decided
for them I would proudly fall
with army career
and living in fear
his mem'ry will I proudly maintain
the star covered flag
in clear plastic bag
undamaged by tear or stain
he died long ago
in some place I don't know
yet his mother remembers him well
for every night she dreams
of him and it seems
it's her own little version of hell

shine a light so bright that all can see
and you will find the joys that echo within me

My oh My Deperato....This is touching
I'm impressed. This is beautiful my friend!
It's not often that one finds a man that can
write like this and express this kind of emotion!
Great Job!

This one brought tears to my eyes when i first read it the other day... i waited to respond because i wanted to think of the right words to express how profound and important this piece is. But... I am at a loss for words except to stand and applaud. Excellent work, my friend.
