Better to Give than Receive

I hope you never feel it
This pain you bestowed on me
To cry with the lights unlit
or to ask yourself “why me?”

I pray you never feel this
The betrayal of a friend
Never feel an ache like this
The hurt felt now has no end

I trust you’ll never walk here
Down the path of love that’s gone
To be stabbed by one so dear
To wake never to see dawn

I wish you’ll not received it
The broken heart you gave me
It’s hard to believe it
This....your final gift to me

 Hold me for yesterday
Kiss me for tomorrow
But love me for today.

It is horrible to be stabbed in the back by a friend, but you just have to pick up the pieces and learn to trust again. Good poem.

Wow.  I really connected with this.  I too know how it feels to have your heart broken by a friend -- it's not a nice thing.  You've really expressed yourself well here.

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Butterfly - this really reads well.
Excellent poem --and such an awful
pain to have to live through.

  -- I love the title, too --)

hugs,

Betrayal is a harsh road to pass down....be strong little butterfly, blue skies may be around the corner.

Many hugs to you and much love,
Lizzie

Netswan* Thank you...and for you to say you liked my title...well that is something to smile about!! for titles are my weakest point
Lizzie* I'm beginning to see alot of silver linings lately but for a while it was hard to believe, thank you for the love and the hugs   right back atcha
Denise* There was alot of pain in this, which is why I don't want anyone else to feel it, not even the one that gave it.  Thank you so much for your comments and for reading.
