I think that this is one of my best pieces ever composed.

I've been a poet since the age of ten
because, my only friends were paper and pen.
Poetry has been in me since a child
because, my thoughts flowed like the Nile.
I used everything that was around me
as the engine to my poetry.
I've experienced happiness and pain
as I've fought through the rain.
I've been prepared for the outcomes
as my heart and soul speaks as one.
The older I grew in years,
the more my poetry became sincere.
And now that I'm deep in maturity,
I can rhyme with the finest impurity,
because my soul's in the hands of security.
Basically, I use my poetry as a voice
to educate, uplift, and rejoice.
I feel like it's my time
to rise and shine
because my heart,
rings like Spanish chimes.
I've been blind but now I see
as my soul has been set free
causing  me to express myself artistically
and blossoming into a great writer of poetry.

Such a beautiful poem... I can relate to it. I have also been writing since I was young, and I can relate to many of the things you said. Good job!

Nate-

Very nice poem. I always thought that a poet needed no practice, that they were inspired and wrote, as you have shown here.
