Between a laugh and a tear...

0 posted 2000-04-24 06:08 AM

We were friends you and I, least that's what I thought
Things now they are different, seems I've been caught again
You gained a place in my heart, with you laugh and smile
Your openness and fragility, you took me by surprise

Yes we were close, but you wanted more
It just wasn't possible, situations didn't allow it
To move on with life, we agreed, was good
We'll keep in touch, after all we were friends!

Now as time moves on, you build your new life
I say hello and wish you well, time goes on, are you there?
Can't help but wonder now, what was it all to you?
A passing diversion?, We are strangers now

Don't get me wrong I'm not bitter, just disappointed
Not so much in you, but me, for I should've known better
Well the door now is closed, bolted good and tight
So knock, knock, knock away, I'll not let you in, not again!!!

So Heartfelt and well written, Eagle.

Yep, sometimes we have to bolt the door
on things that will continue to hurt
us, if we don't.

Eagle One...this piece speaks with the voice of sincerity and although you showcase its vulnerability, you also bring to light the strength that has arisen from the pain. Still, there's a certain sadness...

Nicely written.

EagleOne~
Such a haunting look at friendship past.
Don't lock that door too tightly ...
another may want to enter.

Netswan ~ Thanks for reading and for your comments.

Claire ~ Yes there is sadness there, but from sadness and pain comes strength. Thankyou!

My dear friend* This is a wonderful piece and it shows the heart of a man that has been hurt but also the man with the strength to go on to love again another day.  Yes protect your heart from those that only wish to use what they can and then leave but be free to let those in who's lives are enriched by what you have to offer and give you the same in return.  **Angel Wing Hugs**
