Cracker Jack Surprise
~*Marge Tindal*~

Inside a box of Cracker Jacks
I look still for the toy.
Bringing back those childhood days
I still think, Oh, Boy !

A tiny little trinket,
tucked among caramelized delight,
down among the peanuts,
hidden from my sight.

Fingers probe to find it,
finally clasping it with glee.
That tiny little package,
I wonder what it will be.

I savor the very moment
of opening it on the spot
Look !  It's a SURPRISE !
You won't believe what I got !

This is lovely, Marge!! What was the surprise huh? Are ya ever gonna tell us? I love it when adult people find such delight in the things of childhood....then again, everyone can be a child at heart I guess!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

I know it's the excitment of opening and dumping all those crackerjacks on the table, just to get the prize, that is the fun part.  I love anticipation!  Cute poem, sis!

Marge, you must admit the carmel corn and nuts were pretty good also.  Funny how the joy of some things never fade.

hehe. YOU are the crackerjack, Marge! What memories this brings back! I was a crackerjackaholic for years! I must still have 7 or 8 whistles that don't work. After a long time I finally discovered that you could get closer to the prize by opening the box from the bottom, of course, by that time I was 26 and more versed in the ways of the world. Thanks for the brief jaunt down memory lane

ESP~
The 'child' in me bought three boxes of Cracker Jacks this weekend and delighted in reliving the childhood pleasure of searching for the Toy Surprise !
*Read on to hear what my Toy Surprises were.

David~
Yeah, me too !  Always a great memory.

NetSwan~
I got plumb tickled to pieces at myself over this delight ! *Read on ...

Denise~
Thank you, dahlin'

Devina~
Oh !  I wanted a top !

Corinne~
A Cracker Jack delight for sure.

Mariee~
NO !  Buy them both a box TODAY !

Martie~
I like to scrunch my hand down in the box and feel for the Surprise ! I 'anticipate' until I'm through eating them.

Danny~
I ate the WHOLE THING !

Balladeer~
I NEVER went through the bottom first !

NOW ....
Box 1 ... a miniature Magnifying Glass !
Box 2 ... a butterfly transfer Tatoo !
BOX 3 ... JUST FOR YOU, BALLADEER !
An honest to goodness WHISTLE !
*The one shown is a 1930's whistle ...
made of wood and with frets ...
mine was PLASTIC ... oh, well .. it WORKS !

*And did you know that the Toy Surprise was called - lagniappe (lan yap'): n. 1. Chiefly Southern Louisiana and Southeast Texas, a small gift given with a purchase to a customer, by way of compliment or for good measure, bonus.

Thanks to you all for enjoying this little treat with me.  TRUTH .. who's buying some this week ?

Yeah,

There's a surprizzzzzze in every box... and there's nothing wrong with a top..! specially if your on it.
