     On Yellow

Yellow is primary,
The burning center of our star,
Sunlight on your head,
Warmth to bones,
Smiles.

Yellow is golden,
Like sunflowers laughing
Along a Kansas highway
Talking back to the sun.

Yellow likes green.
It etches bright the leaves
Of ginger plants,
Finds red to glorify a sunset.

Yellow is subtle,
Like in shafts of light
After storm,
In cream and tapioca pudding.

Yellow is candle glow
Recalling the feeling
Of wearing yellow gingham
And your first kiss.

Yellow is silent.
Is holy,
Shining down through night shades
From the moon.

Franni

Franni~
This is absolutely beautiful with the
softness of the shades of yellow.

'Yellow is golden,
Like sunflowers laughing
Along a Kansas highway
Talking back to the sun.'

Perfect images of yellow.

Even though this Kansan is color-blind, he appreciates the beauty of this poem...

loved these lines, especially,

"Yellow is subtle,
Like in shafts of light
After storm,
In cream and tapioca pudding."

When I saw your name, I was anxious to read your poem, but waited til a moment of silence after all the children and grandchildren have left, and now in this moment of silence I read your lovely poem, and it was well worth the wait. So nice to see you posting
