         Paradise echoes

Paradise echoes, press a vice.
Screening my Nazarene in glean.
Ever winking in mild entice,
In subtle scaling and obscene.

I cannot weed desire out,
It visits there in phantom dream.
Where fantasies do come about,
In willing slips and slides and seem.

It dips between like dental floss.
A motor in fail, falling apart.
It drives old engines to chaos.
From age and too many kick start.

There seems no way to stop the drive
And pretense is the sword of choice.
Just so long as your still alive
And have the substance of a voice.

It is a battle few have won,
Before the embers are undone.
