A warm breeze is all that holds me on this empty, long, night,
embraced only by the cloud's shadows, feeling a deep need to write.
A thousand stars dance above me, as does a celestial blue moon,
their presence, my quiet comfort, but like you...they will be gone too soon.

I wonder what you are doing, who your with and where you are,
I'd sell my soul to know ... we were both wishing on the same star.
I was only looking for a little peace ... for something kind ...
and for just a little while, I believed ... you were that find.

I brought this on myself ... falling for my own fantasy,
now my heart breaks under the sudden weight of this cold reality.
I cant hold you to promises that you never made,
yet each passing second I find more of me that I'm willing to trade.

I don't wanna be like this anymore ... so emotional, needy and weak,
where am I supposed to go with this, you were the quiet comfort I seek.
I tried so hard to hold you, to make you want to stay ...
how poetically ironic the intensity of my need is what scared you away.

Alone again, I sit and hurt and wonder why ...
and I cry a tear ... for every star I see in the sky.
Only the moon sees me, he seems to understand,
come morn the sun will find me still here ... heart in my hand.

Janet Marie

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Well it's posted. It's called "Questions"

Janet this is really lovely.  I too feel like I am too emotional, needy, and weak.  I don't completely understand why I am like that.  A friend of mine recently broke off our relationship because I couldn't stop myself from falling in love with her and she only wanted to be my friend.  Not my friend here...a friend in Canada.  Somehow I believe when I find the right woman she will not care if I am needy..but I also believe I may be wrong and I need to settle this needy issue before I can find the right woman. Anyway I fall in love all the time and as I was telling my friend Lena tonight...I said "Lena...I think I'm falling in love with you...but I don't know if you're falling in love with me."   It seems like I am too needy to even talk to her this way..I wish I could be strong and wait for her to say she loves me without any encouragement.  Anyway watch them needy poems.  James

This is a beautiful poem....I am also emotionally needy, I thrive on caring for people and having people care about me. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem with us.

Love and hugs,

Oh Janet, I am so glad I didn't miss this one...It's like I was reading my own heart.  You sure expressed that hopeful longing - and believe me, I know all too well, how it feels to try and hang on to that fantasy you speak of.  When you find someone who seems to "light up your life", I think it's natural to want to hold onto them forever...And as I see it, they always will, if even from a distance, like the stars up in the sky...Even though your star is not in your hand, doesn't mean he still won't shine down on you from time to time.  I just like to consider myself lucky for even SEEING them in the first place....it gives me hope.  Smile girl...I'm here if you need to talk, ok?  Love you!  Did I say this was breathtakingly beautiful??  It is...

Jan-

This was ahhh words escape me. This was simply beautiful yet hauntingly sad. It broke my heart as I read it. It was like you were mirroring the very feelings of my own heart. I am glad that you can write this out though. Like you are always telling me...write through it. If I had one wish, it would be that you were happy. I'd do anything to see the sparkle again that I know you possess. I hope things get better. You know where I'm at if you need to talk.

Love always,
Amy

Very poignant, JM! Sometimes we feel pain in order to move on to the next phase of love.

Janet, you're exploring your feelings in such beauty and poetic fashion here. You know, any effort to get closer to the inside of "why" you're hurting can potentially enable you with that much more power to deal with the pain. "Knowledge is power" goes the old adage. Oft'times in the process of exploring our issues, we are able to find the "why" and the "now what." To my way of thinking, you're "dealing and healing" all at the same time, which is so often the way it goes. Hang in there, do write, and you will find yourself coming to a peaceful place. (((you)))

Well this one touched me too..I think when it comes to someone we love we are all a little needy. Just some of us like to pretend that we are not   I esp loved the stars in the sky imagery

J.M.**
Somehow I knew this would hurt and would be another mirror...it is but I hurt for you at the moment now and not for my own memories.  This is heart wrenching and so very powerful.  You are NOT needy and weak...it's NOT wrong to need someone and to love them with all that you have...it's the way we are made to love, but that also means that we hurt deeper when it goes. **Angel wing Hugs and Butterfly Kisses** my S.S. Take care of you!!

Janet, you've expressed emotions in such poetic terms. Its always saddens me to watch this process, probably because I've been there a few times. Hugs my friend.

Only the stars see me cry... What an intriguing title. Ever think someone is scared by the intensity of THEIR feelings and thats why they run? Just a thought.

I truly have NO real words to say thank you for these HEARTFELT replies ...
For ALL of your glowing encouragement of my writing
I am humbled and graced...It is by your kind words that I continue to grow as poet.
How does one adequately say thanks for that  kind of a gift.
For all who offer hugs and understanding and were SO sweet to offer a shoulder to cry on I am SO TOUCHED...
You ALL inspire me beyond words.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH
with love and respect, jm

Call it a wild guess, Janet, but I'd say you have a hit here....and deservedly so. You are indeed growing in leaps and bounds as an excellent writer. I applaud your efforts.

JM, deeply painful, melancholy, and beautiful...I can relate to this so much that it's rather frightening.  You've brought tears to my eyes with your stunning words and talent.
