Subtle wings on currents
clearly capable of harm
flutter far from pain.

Oblivious to recklessness,
giving way to human leanings,
spoil and destroy, man.

Moon pulls me away,
though you are all I want,
oceanic sands retract.

What killing lure sings
toward craggy reef,
beyond your bonny shore?

Rocks jut up, rolling,
white water promises
with a roar of false peace.

Giving in like Taurus,
No!!!
Salty tears are all I have.

Pushing on, swimming
toward the future.
Life.

Corinne, very beautiful, I'm not sure I fully understand this butterfly effect. I'll have to read a few more times.

Butterfly Effect
A name given to the extreme sensitivity of chaotic systems, in which small changes or perturbations lead to drastically different outcomes. A common example of this phenomenon is a butterfly flapping its wings in California, and thereby initiating a change in weather patterns that results in the formation of a thunderstorm in Nebraska.

One meteorologist remarked that if the theory were correct, one flap of a seagull's wings would be enough to alter the course of the weather forever.

Corinne~
I'm so glad you wrote this and that Parker asked the 'magic' question.
Lorenz's theory has been the subject of much debate for years.
It is an interesting concept.
The Lorenz Attractor on the link page you provided was fascinating.
I learned much.
Thank you for this piece that is not only lovely, but educational as well.

Denise, Netswan - thank you!

Thanks Marge, yes, fascinating topic and appropriately named, too (once the Lorenz Attractor is viewed).

It causes these thought progressions:

If a butterfly in California can cause changes in weather conditions in Nebraska,  what will the deterioration of the ozone layer and the destruction of forests do?

But, alas, I'm on my soap box again, best be getting off!

Thanks again,

Corinne
