(For those of you who don't know, I own a flower shop and this poem just blossomed...after working hard all day....er, I know I usually write free verse, but this just came out rhyming...oh, and hugs to everyone!)

Ode to a Flower Shop

There are baskets and baskets
and vases galore
there are stuffed Easter bunnies
sitting plump on the floor

There are tulips in colors
that you haven’t fathomed
and ones that are feathered
like birds, just imagine

There are daffodil faces
so perfectly cast
that they warm up the room
like the sun on the grass

There is purple hydrangea
full and robust
and dainty pink roses
for sweetness a must

A flower shop blooming
so full of perfume
that it wears ode to springtime
to freshen the room

Do you like blue of iris
with nostalgic heather
we have it here
no matter the weather

A flower shop’s magic
is in smiles that it brings
to be part of the music
makes everyone sing.

I wish I could see your flower shop. They certainly are magical places because everything brings delight, as you do with your verses.

Oh, Martie~

What a beautiful bouquet you wrote.
I feel like the Florist just delivered !
You're wonderful !
Love you to pieces, Sis.
A certain swell guy sent me flowers today and I LOVED them.
I love florists !
Is there a National Hug-Your-Florist Day ?
If there isn't ... there should be !

Wonderfully done Martie...
if the bouquets from your shop are as lovely as those from your pen, what a flower shop it must be.

The beauty of the flowers there
Can make a man's heart stop
But nothing is as precious as
The owner of the shop.

I've always wanted to work in a flower shop. The sights, the smells, heaven! You have described it very well, Martie! I love your rhyming poetry! You are very good at it!

The flowers of spring
with the pleasure they bring
Their majesty finds and surounds us

You send a bouquet
to all if they pay
Give the best one for free ... you astound us

Your fragrant gifting of poetry blossoms with every verse, Martie. One of my favorite things to do on a lazy afternoon is to browse through a well appointed flower shop. I would love to visit you and yours!

Rex Allen--you know, we give flowers away all the time--maybe that's why we are so poor, but rich with friends.

Parker--thanks sweet man.

Claire--I don't know where you live, but I'd love you to visit me.
