A Ship Called Why Not

I sailed on a ship that they called Why Not
Where anything goes
And the skipper of the yacht
Nobody knows

We sailed out to sea in the soft moonlight
No logs were kept
And all through the night
Nobody slept

Nobody knew where the trip would end
And nobody cared
No questions were penned
Nobody dared

Nobody asked the how and the why
We traveled the sea
Under midnight sky
Not even me

When the sun came up on the ship Why Not
Under bright blue sky
We docked on a beach
Near a ship called Why

Why and Why Not met quite by chance
One in why’s mire
And one did a dance
Near his smoky fire

The ships sailed off and marooned the two
And love was begot
And they never asked why
And never why not

Wow!  Elizabeth - you knock me off my feet!  I sit here with goosebumps all over, reading it to my husband, who listens intently.
Excellent poem, excellent response to "A Ship Called Why" I just enjoyed a minute ago.  You guys are really something!

Sy, You poem is exquisite, mine's just for fun. Just look at all of the hearts you have won. Love ya

Rosemary, Sy and I have been quipping for a long time. Our styles are different, but they dovetail nicely. Glad you enjoyed it

Dovetail indeed - I keep watching for the two of you to dance a duet of poetry - and it keeps getting better and better...
