Old Flames Can burned bridges ever be crossed? And if so at what cost? I told you once, I'll tell you again I still love you But you love someone else I can see it in your glance The way you talk about this girl Like stars are shining in your eyes So go to her my dear No longer bound to me But remember my love, That bridge once crossed Will have to be burned And that will be the end of us ~Cuddlez~< !signature--> Time flies? Those old flames... Sometimes you have to burn the bridge when someone mistreats you. I say be gracious, then light the match, it seems they always swim back. I like your poem. [This message has been edited by pen of passion (edited 04-22-2000).] |

I really liked the theme and meaning behind this one. i believe that burned bridges can be amended..sometimes. however sounds to me like in this case, this might not be one of those times. there is a saying....if you love something, set it free..if it comes back to you, it was yours and meant to be...if not then it never was. just my thoughts here. take care amy  ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

Aimster: Thanks for your input.. I appreciate it. WhiteNite: It costs pride to burn em' down sometimes too... But its better to let em choose? Where do you live? Washington here... Time flies? I enjoyed reading this...how long do we leave the bridge open..because they chose to cross the bridge to find a place where their needs and desires would be met...and obviously it was not us at that time or otherwise they would have no need to cross that bridge. What are we going to do with our desires and needs once they leave...will we take the position that we will love them no matter what they do or how much they hurt us or will we accept the fact that we were not the right one for them and that is why they left and go on with our lives. I believe that most of the time they only come back because they are desperate...maybe they got dumped the same way they dumped us. In any case they still don't really want to be with us they want to be with the one that dumped us. Must we be so desperate to let someone use us in this manner. Sorry...you just reminded me of some experiences I recently lived. Btw did you burn that bridge...it can be a very hard task sometimes? James |

Cuddlez~ Your poem speaks of pain and trying to let it go. You wrote your feelings well. I've never been a 'bridge burner' as my Great Grandmother always told me that I might someday need that bridge to get across troubled waters. Here's hoping that you'll keep the bridge open in some way. Old flames can burn the brightest in the future. Enjoyed the read ... and really enjoyed Serenity's little verse and WhiteNite's comment about re-building bridges with pride. Hey everyone... While, I think I might explain the situation somemore. Him and I are "dating... sort of" but he likes an ex girlfriend who he burned the bridge with.. I'm standing by to see what he'll do. The poem actually is talking about if he'll cross the bridge that he burned (with his ex-gf) or if he'll stay and not burn the bridge between us. I haven't talked to him in a week, but the bridge won't be burned as far as JUST casual friendship goes. That's what I'm hoping anyway. Thanks for the replies... ~Cuddlez~ Time flies?
