Stage I

Let's play house, let's just pretend
It's just a game, it won't hurt
No threats, nothing to defend
But first, you must raise your skirt

That's it, see no one forced you
I know you're only four, so?
Sit, I'll show you what to do
Don't tell, and no one with know

Five years later you still play
See, I told you it was fine
No, you can't stop, move this way
I knew I could make you mine

Well, your sister divorced me
Now our playing house is done
I guess I'll set you free
Goodbye, You're Nine, go have fun.

Stage II

The bus was so quiet today
only a few "big kids" & me
I can't sit up front today
I scrunch low, they'll leave me be

Oh No.....I hear his voice call
"come on back before you go"
I'm only 9 and he's so tall
No tears....I didn't say NO

Just playing "Big"...Just a game
Don't tell your mom, she'll hate you
I won't tell...same game, new name
Here's my stop..and now he's through

Stage III

What's that..Your 25 now?
Now you want to tell you say?
Can't report what you allow!
Oh wait....Mam...Have a Nice Day.

Hello...Is that you Aunt De?
What My dad hurt you back then?
Sorry I must disagree
I'll call...when Hell freezes that's when.

Hello....Is that you friend De?
before we catch up on "us"
I'm engaged...share this with me
You know him...he rode your bus.

Hello....Oh it's you my wife
You were abused when way back then?
Forget about it...Live Life!
Come home...and Play House again.

Stage IV

I would foget every memory if I could
Gladly lose the pain and the shame it brings
Let it all go...yes that would be good
If I could only regrow...my Butterfly Wings

I almost didnt wanna click here...
cause I knew it would hurt my heart...
and it does...
but MORE than that...it places you deeper in it.
I wanted to reply with a witty poetic reply...but I have no rhymes for this...

I wish to say this to you...
though the memories may belong to you...
this is NEVER your shame...and you should NEVER take the blame.

and from my view those wings fo yours grew back with grace and beauty

angel hugs and buterfly wing kisses to you SS
love you, jm

for Butterfly and all survivors

~Take These Tears~

Take these tears, I wont cry them anymore,
They fall like wasted wine and scatter on the floor.

Take this pain, its been here way too long,
You use it to keep a hold on me-but I'm feeling suddenly strong.

Take this shame-it always belonged to you,
Keep it with the lies you told and the broken promises too.

Take this rage...you deserve it most of all,
If you think I'm gonna get over it-your headed for a fall.

Take this silence, I know you've heard its sound before...
Its the first thing you hear...after the slamming of the door.

Butterflies...this is truly a heartbreaking tale.  You wrote with deep emotions.  The guilt here should never be on the child no matter what age.  Our abuser always make it feel like it is our fault and we are "trained" to believe.  As we get older we feel very guilty for not stopping it at an older age, when it still continued.  We could NOT have stopped what we were powerless to defend....ourselves.  The only guilty person is the abuser. Thank you posting this, as difficult as it was. One giant step towards healing I think.

Love hurts the wings of a butterfly on a wheel
love crushes the wings of a butterfly under the snow
and like the flower in spring
love will rise again
to heal your wings....
Love heals the wings of a butterfly on a wheel...

Song by the Mission UK. All i could think of as i read this. The poem really tore my heart out. I would put my arms around you with bug hugs...

J.M.*  Thank you...it was even harder to come back to reply to the posts than it was to write the "poem" in the first place...alot of demons to pull out and then to see that someone looked at it...Shame and guilt are hard feelings to overcome.  Thank you for your support and for your poem....you are a true friend S.S.

Marina* Thank you, and I can rationally say the things that you have said to someone else but never let them apply to myself...it will come one day perhaps.

Jeffrey* Thank you for the clarification   and thank you for reading.

JML* Thank you, I'm touched by your words and by those bug hugs...lol you made a smile appear through my tears today.
