BANGOR (that OR) ME

0 posted 2000-04-20 10:43 AM

The tinny rasping
of sleet striking glass
comes in frequent waves
shifting about
in the unpredictable wind

As this cadence continues
I turn my neck
until it cracks
to relieve the cold tension
driven into my bones

I look to the floor,
painted in blood
are the last moments
of the intruder
who came into my home

My hand goes limp
the gun falls
as I back into the corner
and pray
for God to forgive me

Very tragic, James. Defending our homes is never wrong. Great writing.

I enjoyed reading this. As for being wrong or not. Sometimes its hard to say, but we must defend ourselves right? If the event in this poem actually happened I hope you will find a way to cope.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"
