~Innocence Interrupted~

Innocence interrupted,
childhood stolen away.
Rituals of Immorality...
Even an angels wings fray.

Dreams fade into shadows,
Promises lost to living a lie.
For the Sins of the Fathers...
Silent tears wont testify.

Trust no longer knows definition,
Boundaries are crossed then broken.
Who cries for the children...
When the unspeakable ... is left unspoken.

Secrets concealed in shame,
Unravel the ties that bind.
What becomes of a Mothers Love...
Once denial makes her blind.

Innocence Interrupted-
A life's future to reclaim.
No longer keeping silent...
Survivor is my name.

Janet Marie

**this poem is inspired by and dedicated to a very special friend, who lived this pain...but found the strength to "rise above it" and reach out to others who are "voiceless victims." It is dedicated to anyone who lives with abuse, of any kind.
We must not close our eyes to what is too painful to look at...as our "blindness" allows it to go on.
Stay strong, Take care,
with respect... Janet Marie

************

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

JM - this is a beautifully written piece
and again, I am stabbed in the heart.

Thank you.

Janet,
You are so right. Abuse is not a victimless crime. We must all reach out to help those who cannot or who are afraid to help themselves. Thanks for reposting this piece.

Jm, In general I am not an emotional person.  This poem touched my very deeply, particilary your third verse.  It is amazing how people do turn a blind eye because they choose not to believe.  Therefore they do nothing and a child suffers needlessly.  Thank you very, very much for posting this.  An exceptional piece for our cause.

Beautiful words JM for such an ugly subject. But as you say, that is why people choose to ignore, or pretend not to see, the signs of what is happening. hopefully, through writings like yours those who ignore may see they hold as much responsibilty for what happens as the people who commit these crimes.

Dear Janet Marie; Oh, I can't begin to tell you how much your incredible poem has touched my heart. My father emotionally abused me, terribly. Years of therapy and the Healing Love of God, have lifted me above and beyond the pain and scars. Thank you for this. Hopefully, this will touch a heart and save a child. I pray. Love, Ellie

Powerful phrases! "Who cries for the children...When the unspeakable ... is left unspoken."  "No longer keeping silent...
Survivor is my name."

I think that's a very important part of the healing.  When you stop being a victim and become a survivor.  You're amazing!

J.M.
This is a very heart felt piece and with a heart like yours....it's amazing.  Yes it would be easy to close our eyes and pretend it all goes away but in truth...it just gets closer and then sneaks up on you in your own neighborhood or worse your own home, Child abuse needs to be dealt with head on and children need to be taught that it's OK to tell and it's OK to say NO.  My biggest fear is that one day my daughter would grow up like I have....I would rather die.  And you are so right the best words are the words of the heart...you capture them well my SS.  **Angel Wing Hugs**
