I've always known, deep in my heart That you were not for me But I saw something today Something I didn't wish to see I saw the real you Shining through your looks As I was sitting down To read through my books You, and another boy Were being so unkind The girl you were teasing I'm sure, was dying inside I was simply horrified That you were commiting this sin And even more terrified that I ever loved Someone with such darkness within And as you teased, on and on The more terror I felt As I saw those beautiful eyes dancing At the expence of someone else I was angry at myself Thinking that I once loved This terrible soul that I now see That you were once beloved I was also angry That I couldn't see inside Inside your dark heart before now But I guess that love is blind But, above all, I was hurt I wish I could never see The day when you could be so cruel To such a broken girl... me "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

LoveBug this is an exceptional poem. And one of those hard life's lessons well learned. Oh, my do I hate to find clay feet --) Touching, and truly heartfelt. Thanks for sharing. netswan |

LoveBug~ This is so painfully said. I'm sure it hurt to see someone you thought was 'something else' turn into a cruel person at your expense. Know what? He isn't worth even one of the tears you shed over him. Hope it helps you get past the hurt and opens your eyes to someone who will not be like that.
