                 Words

Mere words cannot move mountains,
Nor calm the storm-tossed sea.
They cannot cause the lame to walk,
Nor make the blind man see.
But, words have power to move the heart,
And put its fears at bay;
To make a crippled soul arise,
And see the light of day.

Words cannot subdue the wind,
Nor stop the falling rain.
They cannot cause the cloud-blocked sun
To show its face, again.
But, words can help hold back the tide,
When storms of life rage on;
And fill a weary spirit
With the strength to carry on.

Troy,
   Your meter is excellent! Your emotions are evident as well. Good poem.

WOW!!!
Now what can I say about this??
Unbelivable? Amazing? Indescridable?
I'm shure all them fits for this poem!
Great work!

Troy,
  I liked this one but challenge you to work on the last two lines as they are the ones most people will remember. "Fill with the strength" sounds a little too much like a quick and dirty ending, don't you think?
   There are too many other good verbs and images that might fit. I think you have the talent to make this a little bit better, but you can always leave it as is, too.
best regards,
bboog

WOW... I really enjoyed this piece.  The second read was even better than the first...

The potential power of words is quite an astounding thing, isn't it?...
