One Act of Kindness
By: Amy M. Kennedy

Fate and Destiny have always played their part
They ruled my world right from the start
That one act of kindess, started the beginning
A chain reaction of events, never to be the same
You loved me before you even knew my name

So much love fills my heart for the two of you
Where I am at today is because of your love, I know this to be true
So as another chapter of my life comes to a close
My love for you continues to flourish and grow

Unselfish love is all that you ever gave me
You showed me how life could be, you made me see
Never asking me for more than I can give
You pushed me to always do my best, to really live

Mom, you're now in heaven, but Dad is still here
But both of you are in my heart, equally near
Adoption, something I now look at with pride
I no longer ask myself the question why

Mom, you gave me love and taught me the finer points of living
You always were there for me, always so giving
You taught me to be true to me
To never allow anyone to capture my soul and not let it be free

Dad you make me laugh like noone else can
Wiped scraped up knees, always reaching out your hand
So now as a dream of mine is about to come true
I just wanted to state my love and to tell you, Thank You!

Without you I am not complete, only a part of myself
I may not be rich in money, but in love, I have millions in wealth
So, as I begin a new chapter I want you to know
Never have nor will I forget that special gift...my adoption seventeen years ago!

This was written for my Mom in heaven and for my Daddy. As the poem illustrates 17 years ago I was adopted. Next month I graduate from college...I just wanted to say thanks to my two angels who saved my life in more than one way!

Oh Amy, this brought tears to my eyes... it is sooo beautiful!!  Your two Angels will truly treasure this.

Oh Amy...such a heartfelt tribute to your adoptive parents....I can think of no better present you could ever give them than this...it speaks from your heart and will touch theirs for years to come

Amy, this is a wonderful tribute.  One act of kindness can go a long way toward producing something beautiful - and this is proof.  God bless you.

your just not happy unless your pulling on my heartstrings are you(SMILE)
this is perfect and pure...
pure with your love, sincerety and grace.
yes this beautiful poem is a lovely  tribute to your parents....but the real tribute to them is the poet that wrote it...
you do them more justice and honor than any poem ever could...
love ya amy-girl

ps...wheres my update on Sunday? LOL

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Amy~ dear Amy~
Just you being wonderful you.
I am sure your heart is full of
memories of missing that special
mother.  So pleased that you have
your father to be with you as you
graduate.  And those wonderful sisters.
Hugs to you.
Love you, hon
