Once held by a king who never saw its true beauty
It began its life around his neck
          a symbol of royalty
Reflecting the power of the ocean
          the power of nature
A power that proved to be too much for one man
          let alone a king

Recast and recut, it found its way to a new shape
Continuing its life as a heart
          a symbol of love
Reflecting the power of a life
          the power of passion
A power waiting to be shared by two people
          lovers not yet found

Now held by a woman who knows its true beauty
It ends its life around her neck
          a symbol of true love
Reflecting the power of lives joined
          the power of passions fulfilled
A power now shared and found by two people
The Heart of the Ocean beating in time
with the hearts of their bodies

Now. . .
         . . . and for all time

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

               . . . tout le temps

Sven, I love the story of The Heart of the Ocean, and your telling breathes poetic reverence. This is lovely...

Sven, thank you for posting this un francais.
I have been toying with some ideas myself, and this has inspired me to get busy.  What a lovely posting you have created.

Sven,

Your talents never cease to amaze me...and in FRENCH no less.  I am glad you posted in both languages! I studied German in school but would not dare write poetry in that language.
Please, MORE!

Thank you all. . . I was inspired to post in French because of the name of the jewel. . . I hope that I have done the language justice, not being a native French speaker. . .

Thank you again. . .
