MASQUERADE

Melancholy masques mold mentality.
Avarice answers all adversity.
Subtle sarcasm serenades Sweetness.
Quintessential qualm questions Queenliness,
Undermines "us", underscores unity,
Ever eases empty Eternity.
Rage redefines reigning Reality
Avid Ambition ails aimlessly.
Deceptive daydreams deliver Death's door
Engrieved effigies egest evermore.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

YIKES!

I hereby deify you the God of Masochistically Difficult Poetry Forms ...

So what do you take as offerings, Double Sestinas...?  I have a few lying round somewhere ... LMAO

I am impressed -- worried that you have WAY too much free time -- but impressed ...

--Me

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

well, who would dare to try to surpass this challenge...how could one???
I bow before the new king of acrostic...
we are not worthy...*smile*
not only vertically...but across TOO???
damn your good!! LOL
excellent M,and way cool too.
take care,jm

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Oh good Lord...

Okay...it's an acrostic, there's even 10 syllables per line...OH WAIT, look...you just decided to make it a double acrostic, didn'tcha?  I have but one question for you, my dear sweet masochistic friend...when on earth do you sleep?

Ya never cease to amaze me, guy..

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

serenity, I'm sure Chris may have enlightened you about his brain - but I say to you BE WARNED!!!  What he's got crawling around in there defies the laws of nature!  TY for the applause, btw.

Kess, the God of what?  Now you got me scrambling for a dictionary...  Oh, and about them sestina type thingees - indeed, you are a Goddess, yourself.   Just keep them dang things away from me...  Talk about difficult...

Janet, only since you mentioned "downward and across", I willI show you truly the most difficult piece I have ever written, if you'd like to see it that is:
http://piptalk.com/pip/Forum25/HTML/000016.html

Satiate, Sleep, what's that?  I though you knew me better than that by now.      Yep, Chris put some pretty tough restrictions on this one, syllables and such - but notice he's hiding now, that's cause it's his turn....LOL

Thank you all for the replies.

Geesh!

As if it were really that hard! The only reason I don't have mine up, is because I don't want to make you look bad in front of everyone else!

WOW Mike! I knew you'd be able to do it... but with this much finesse...Wow!

Chris, still waiting for yours... *twiddling thumbs*  ahem, yo Chris!

A Romantic Heart, alas, you're on to me.  Ya know, I never claimed to be an earthling.

Jeffrey, an acrostic is the poetic emblem of torture, especially when used in conjuction with the terms alliteration and perfect meter...LOL

Thank you all for the gracious comments.
