Are You Strong Enough To Love Me?

Are you strong enough to love me,
Are you brave enough to try?
Can you stand ‘fore me securely,
Not fall to your knees and cry?

Are you strong enough to hold on,
To a man who flies life free?
Can you stand with me, face each dawn,
Through life's insecurities?

Are you strong enough to share all,
Our dreams, our fates, our fears?
Can you bear the weight of a fall,
When life brings us unto tears?

Are you strong enough to feel joy,
The joy I would feel in you?
Can you do as I and employ,
Ev'ry kiss to be like new?

Just a single man searching peace,
Love in an age of darkness.
Searching for misery's release,
A soul for my pen's caress.

For I have words inside my heart
Which beg only be written,
Needing only "her," to take part,
Make my poetry flow again.

So do you think you have the nerve,
The guts to attempt this trial...
Are you strong enough to love me?
If so, then show me in style!

Duck!!

Quite a statement you've made m'friend, and the poem's pretty cool too!

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

No wretching from Beloved Saint--
sentiment should be not taint
this heart's plea
of soul's release
I have walked these coals in hell.

Falter?
Well, I understand...
instictively
woman to man...
Strong enough?
Nay.
I am but weak.
'Tis thirst
or hunger
that ye seek?

A humble girl
who mumbles rhyme
surely is not
worth your time.

Serenity smiles for you, Chris...

yes, this is a very cool poem.
I love the emotions in it and the honesty of those emotions...very well written...
hope the recipient is up to the challenge...
if not...I like serenity's poetic reply *smile*
take care, jm

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

I hope she is up to the test!

A rose is strong and carries on. A rose finds first the dew from someone's heart for her own growth to return, and the beauty that not only flows within her but she draws it from others. Not watered with rainwater, but well water, from deeper soul searching parts, where the only nourishment is from the soul, and the only poetry that flows is from the very essence of the soul. In that flow, comes pain, happiness, joy every emotion a person could hope to be honored enough to be considered a poet. A rose is shy, but courageous, a rose ventures forth when she feels weak and unworthy and finds that in this garden of life, our words are beautiful drops of wellwater filling one another with sustenance. She gives inspiration, encouragement, and pieces of her own soul unafraid and that is the truest form of expression.
A rose is willing, able and unafraid to draw the poetry from you.....

How can a guy that has these looks
be fishing with this hook?
A strong and possibly romatic scene
with your words, its every girls dream.
True love is not what one may say
but hold within and brightens the day.
So look with a careful eye,
do not let lonelyness take your pride.
Keep your guard up and fancy your dream
love isn't all that it may seem.

ARH - Sorry I missed you when I replied. You must have snuck in on me whilst I was replying! Thank you! And yes, Elvis has re-entered the building!

Mike - Oh, shaddap!

Becca - Woo-hoo, (dodging) You didn't think it would be THAT easy, did you???

Sharon - No, m'lady. 'Tis you who have it wrong. It is you, who are too good for the likes of me.

Ruth - But rumors are a good thing! They stimulate people's brains and give them something to talk about... it's a good booster for cultural relations!!!

Mariee66 - Well... umm... you can leave your number... umm... but I don't really think that's something you really want to post to the whole world!!!

Kissner - IS there really a "right" way? I think to experience it is all I ask.

Kess - To be thine enemy, would make me sad indeed. So I think I'll let you get away with this, K?

Alwye - Now you bring up a VERY good point. I honestly couldn't tell you the answer to that one until the time came to prove it!

Marge - Ah lass, yet you've sent me none? Sigh...   Another smile for you then!

Jeff - Excuse you, and here's your change.

Kathleen - Sigh. Now there's a beautiful response. Indeed, a rose is a beautiful symbol as well as a flower. Yet they too show weakness. Wouldst thou wilt before mine glare, or art thou indeed strong enough?

Jamie - Be happy to introduce you, but methinks the ladies would rather have you present yourself to them!

Aimster - "girl in her right mind..." HAHAHAHA You, m'dear, need to get to know me! Ask anyone who does, and they'll tell you that being in your right mind is a severe detriment when dealing with me!

Nan - It's all Mike's fault, no matter what he tries to claim. See, he has this drinking problem... two beers, and he's on the floor. Then he's all over all the teenage girls. Sigh, kinda sad really, but it's like loving your kid...

Jason - Fine then... friend?... go join Mike and Kess!

Mike - OK EVERYONE! SINCE MIKE'S HERE SLANDERING ME, I FEEL I HAVE TO RISE TO MY OWN DEFENSE. I AM 26 YEARS OLD AND HAVE PROOF! I KNOW I LOOK YOUNG, BUT CONSIDER THAT A BONUS, AS WHEN I GET OLDER, I WILL STILL LOOK GOOD!

Tara - On my way lady... have you indeed risen to the challenge?

Compgirl - What a... nice? reply! LOL. What would you suggest? That I go to a bar to meet someone? No, I sincerely think not! I don't go to school. While I like my job ok, it's not where my passion lies, so I won't find anyone to stir my heart there. Aside from slumming around downtown, LOL, where better and what better way, to find someone with whom I share common interests and passions?   And I honestly believe love is what you make of it!

Mike - Haha... you're the one who keeps bumping it up! ROFL! I think you're jealous!!!

Well better late then never my friend. Do you think your ready for me??...lol. Hang on to your hat...here goes nothing.

Am I strong enough to love you?
Is the question that you asked.
I'm strong enough to bear the weight,
Of many who have passed.

My hearts not frail nor innocent,
Nor given without thought.
It out lasts anything but death,
Anything that life has wrought.

It shines through time and distance,
It warms the very soul.
It handles anything that comes,
If truth would be your goal.

Few things can defeat my love,
Lies, deceit and fraud.
If you really want my love,
Go where few have traud.

Show patience, kindness, truth and love,
In everything you do.
Teach me that a faith in you,
Will keep me shining too.

Am I strong enough to love you?
I am and always will be.
What I really need to know,
Are you strong enough to love me?

Well the last stanza didn't come out the way I wished it to be but what do you expect at the spur of the moment...lol.

Loves and hugs my friend.

I’m strong enough and brave enough
To love you for my own
And I would stand and face each dawn
With strength you’ve never known

You speak of fate and fear and weight
Annoying thoughts for sure
These burdens that concern your mind
Ones I already bore

I could provide a soulmate
For your wondrous poet pen
And make the words spew forth
Like cooling mountain springs again

I have the nerve, I have the guts
To extract your finest jewel
To wring the elegance and grace
From out your spirit’s pool

To make your trembling hand remain
As steadfast as your mind
To keep your footsteps on the path
And never look behind

So find your one great precious love
More true than any other
And I will love you like a son
I’ll be your second mother

My goodness!!! (or rather, with me, it's probably really bad...)

serenity - Ahh, and what a sweet reply, I'll not deny, it caught my eye!

Kess - Dream on.

Marilyn - !!! WOW! You're still amazing girl! But we've been over this before... I know I'm strong enough... but could you really, I mean really handle me??? Hmm?

Gen - You missy, after all the effort I've put into being nice and replying kindly to your poems lately, stab me in the back? Et tu Brute? You fiend... I am quite sure that whatever you might write in "response" is not going to be pretty. I remember the last time you used me in your poetry... I still feel like a virtual John Bobbit!

Rosebud - Crave? Desire? Want, need? What does being male or female have to do with it?   I think we ALL need love!!!

Irie - And what a response!!! My goodness! I feel overwhelmed by the talent that's responding to this! I'm glad it inspired some of you to let flow from the pen words of caring, kindness and strength!!!

Jason - Femme said she thinks you're a hunk! (hehehe)

Liz - Last, DEFINITELY not least. Luv, you've got the (non-existant) prize for best response! You have it right on the nose here, realize that the strength required for love doesn't have to come from a romantic interest, (though I know you want me!) You've got it "mom," though you better watch it...LOL, people might get the wrong idea if I start calling you that!!!

HEY JASON - Where the heck are you?  I think your idea was stupendous!  I'll find you on Yahoo, and we'll discuss strategy, ok?     Be thinking....

...and Chris, you mean you haven't told him all the horrible things about me yet???  I can't believe it - YOUR friends talking to ME??  Man, you are a cool guy, I suppose.     BTW, that bobbit thing, well, I've tried to write some nicer ones since, and you ran off screaming into the woods - so there. Hmmm Like I have told you numerous times my friend, nothing scares me nor shocks me. I have no doubt that I could handle you. You see, I too fly free and I have to follow my own path. It is in the acceptance of eachother where love lives. If we can all learn how to know someone and learn from them, grow with them and accept them for who and what they are, then we can know true love. Trying to change someone of cage them is how to kill love and the spirit. When we learn how to listen and accept our difference is when the world will become a better place to live and we can all find happiness and fulfillment.

You my friend are a gift beyond words and a spirit that needs to be free. Always know that you are a friend to me and I do love you already.   Without the pieces people bring into our lives we could never be complete.

This one was drawing so much attention I just HAD to see what it was about.

I like it... although if I were to write such a poem at the present time it would probably read:

Are you stong enough to love me,
Can you live with such a bore?
Can you do without the luxury,
In hopes of finding something more?

[lol]

Sorry, bout that.. just in a mood today.  I like your poem though, all questions I've asked before... well.. except the "flies freely" part... that's just a recent development, that I can't really afford to entertain.   Anyways... later.

May all those you meet through your journey in life
be "strong" enough to love you.
For if they're not, they will never fully know
the beauty of your soul.
The soul you've written from here.

Beautiful poem.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"Can you stand ‘fore me securely,
Not fall to your knees and cry?"

~snort~ This is why the plussing system exists... but sometimes it's still hard not to cry, collapse, or go into recurring seizures... especially your puns ~shudder~ (when you pull the one-liners, the voices start chanting)
