note: I've been sitting on this one for a while debating whether I should post it or not.In any event, I dedicate it to all those souls out there who have ever been emotionally beaten by someone who treated their affection cruelly.

________________________________________________
What prize in truth is worth the price now paid,
that, I, in public now myself degrade,
the object of sly glances and bold stares,
while foolishly my heart in anguish bears,

the brunt of wit so carelessly inscribed,
from they who snatched my love and then imbibed,
in piggish glut insensitive to need,
that ego, then insatiable, did feed,

upon the flesh and soul of innocence,
then hastily did recklessly dispense,
devoid of thought, or care, or time of day,
yet, eager to the hunt for fresher prey,

what beast so beautiful upon first glance,
with measured steps upon this heart did dance,
to strains of love while there a malice boiled,
unleashed, unmasked, a demon then uncoiled,

to strike bewildered fool such fatal blow,
such madness only wicked hearts can know,
and I, sad dupe endure slack mouth agape,
for such as we, alas, there’s no escape.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

this is indeed a vivid portrayal of betrayal.  I hope dear Pegasus that it is not something you have experienced.  well done and I will come back to this.  Love, Joyce

You've heard it a thousand times, at least a dozen times from me alone, you have such an incredible ability with words.  A real gift to touch intangibles...if that makes any sense.  Great stuff here, *ugh*, if only I didn't know this feeling ALL too well.
