The tranquil day expires as it lived;
slowly, and with splashes of purple hues,
it surrenders to the lengthening shadows

Dim light filters through the curtains,
casting a lace pattern on the sleeping face,
smooth brow damp with the film of summer heat

The woman reaches down to brush a brown lock
gently from the still form of the boy,
maternal love shining in the hazel eyes

Sleep my son and dream precious dreams,
I will watch over you dear one, sweet boy,
until it is time for you to wake
A man

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I'm glad you posted this.  It shows a great deal of tenderness and understanding of the unique position of trust that God  has placed in parents.  Love, Joyce
