Soldiers Do

Soldiers do what soldiers must
obeying orders in the dust
of soon to be forgotten wars
we'll never see the things they saw

We sit here in our ivory chairs
to never understand the fear
the joy of life that goes away
on every single war filled day

Then off to war we send our child
knowing they will never reconcile
the innocence that they once felt
with the guns they have held

For the ones that lose the fight
we fly them in in dead of night
no heroes welcome back for them
just spat aside like chesty phlegm

Wounded barely kept alive
in hospitals both far and wide
no visits from their loving kin
as if it was some nasty sin

How can they ever understand
why they die in foreign lands
The future will hold other days
when our kids we send away

Politicians and their views
sustaining some immortal feuds
show TV News a teary eye
but never send their kids to die

...
..

Live It

Well done.  Well done.  Those of us who have no sons fighting almost forget,  Shame on us.  Good job. Joyce

LongTe~
The mortal pains of war touch us all and you have expressed the pain well~

I don't need to agree that -

'Politicians and their views
sustaining some immortal feuds
show TV News a teary eye
but never send their kids to die'

- to say that overall you make an impressive penning~
