A Window On Eternity

In lofty tors, where eagles fly
To build their nests up near the sky,
With wind and clouds for company,
That is the place I'd like to be.

Up where the stars are near at hand
And looking out upon the land,
I see great canyons, dark and deep,
Where many secrets lie asleep.

The Heavens flame at end of day,
When sunset paints its wild display
And every sunrise seems to be
A window on eternity!

It takes great strength for life to dwell
Where nature casts her feral spell.
I am not brave enough, I know,
But part of me would like to go!

BettyLou~
You give words the wings with which to soar~

The imagery in the following stanza just paints the most beautiful scene for me~

'The Heavens flame at end of day,
When sunset paints is wild display
And every sunrise seems to be
A window on eternity!'

I *sigh* at the TOTAL of this penning~

Dear Marge: Your comments always are rewarding for me. In reading your reply I discovered I had made a typo!  Why couldn't I see it when I posted???  It should read:
"When sunset paints its wild display"

Guess you enjoyed it anyhow!!

You're right, you do usually catch any typos! We'll just have to excuse both of us I guess!

Exquisite!  I can see and feel the wonder in this, and I have also experienced that heartfelt tug to feel a part of it.  You do capture the imagery of nature awesomely in this poem and the feel of eternity.  Beautifully, beautifully penned!
