This poem is part of a collection I am writing on death. Title is "Short Poetry for Those Who Fear Death". I wrote this Sedoka ten minutes ago. It is for my mom, who killed herself on August 30 2005, after several attempts. May God be with her, always!

August 30th

The rope was ready
leaving you with no option—
safety was in the guardrail.

No broken bones, just
a peaceful face like they had
never seen. The dream’s yours now.

What ever her reason, she had one, and took the only way she knew to quiet her soul. It takes a certain amount of courage to do what she did. Bless you. sincerely, martyjo

Something like that is hard to forget, and obviously painful to deal with, and even write about.  You did so effectively, and beautifully.  Feel better, and nice job.

Ame~
The poignancy of your loss poured through your penning~

One of the feelings that immediately sprung to my mind, from my heart, is that suicide is so permanent, that their are always 'options' and the true option is in the hope that those even contemplating it could come to realize that before they complete their mission~

There is always such pain left behind for the family members and friends, who spend their grief trying to come to grips with the "what if's",
"what could have been done to prevent this"~

I pray for you to find peaceful acceptance~

I am soooo sorry you have to endure this pain~

Thank you guys!
I appreciate your thoughtful words. Strange as it is, I feel no sadness, I just wanted to honour my mom's memory as well as the very courageous decision she had made.
I accepted her death a long time ago, even before she was dead. She had been mentally ill for as long as I can remember. I am sure she is happy where she is now.
Thanks again!
