Living it up

We're going to the movies,
A dearest friend and I.
We'll ignore all of the sad ones;
We've had all we need of cry.

Last week we saw The Chronicles;
The lion, witch and wardrobe.
Today it's Harry Potter
In his long, black wizard's robe.

We go to the matinee so we
Don't need to drive in dark.
We dine on pop and popcorn and
Enjoy our little lark.

We discuss the Harry Potter books,
Decide which one is best.
Will the movie do it justice?
We're giving it a test.

My friend is nearing ninety and
I'm not too far behind.
Are we in our second childhoods, or
Has each of us lost her mind?

We're keeping up with grandchildren
And having a good time
Doing things we were too busy for
When each was in her prime.

We are no longer chained to desks,
Burdened with daily chores.
Now is our time to play a bit
And ignore the silly mores.

Dear Joyce:  Cute poem!  I would love to join you going to the movies.  I'm really lucky if I see one or two a year!

That's my kind of living- being with a friend.

Thanks, Melton

Thanks for reading Melton.  I've missed seeing you around.

Thank you Marge.  Sometimes even the grandchildren are too busy for us.  We have to depend on our friends.  Love, Joyce

Like the adage says, "If I had known grandkids would be such fun, I would have had them first!"  This poem is fresh and makes me smile.  Brings out the kid in me, too.  Think I'll take in a lighthearted movie soon!

Wanna come?
