She hides alone beneath the bed Her tears fall; nothing said She stares up; the springs all rusty The room dry; dark and musty Why is she there you all may ask It is her one and only task To hide, to shelter in fear alone To hide from her father; the old crone Her fear surmounts as he walks the hall The footsteps louder; strong and tall; She huddles closer under the bed She is quiet; for nothing will be said She hides because of his unwanted advances She is a survivor of his awful glances The hands and stares; the indirected trust The violation; fears a must Footsteps by the bedroom door She is caught up in a dreadful war Between her and him; hiding and scare She is alone; lifes not fair Her heart continues to pound aloud She is far from the maddening crowd The footsteps pause; she huddles near Her one wish; to be without fear He continues on down the house She is quiet; like a mouse Scared and huddled; her mind fast She does not think that she will last She stays there for quite a while Her face does not show a happy smile She does not know what to do So she huddles there; her teddy too She stares out the window sill She thinks of him; his iron will Fear rules her life; for now and years TO be filled of fright and many tears Her daddy should be a stout supporter Not frightening his own daughter With his touches and his taunts With his awful glares that daunt For now thinking back on this scene I could see what it does mean She is strong; she could hide Protecting herself in her stride The years of abuse took its toll The hiding; made her feel so small But now she has a loud voice It is her one and only choice That no child should cope with fear For the memory years on; still so near But she knows this scene is unending Hidden from society; never bending Next time you see a child fear Remember this rhyme; it could be near Think that this could be happening too Perhaps closer still; even to you. white dove i am so sorry for your pain. the statistics say that yes, for those of us who survive it, i feel we are truly blessed for there are way too many who don't, and people remember it is not just girls that this awful awful thing happens too. as an adult please listen to your children for we are all they have. Annie there is but a short time to exist, love,laugh,live and never stop believing in miracles |

Too many tears, too many times this scene is played out .... down the street, next door ... oh yes, it happens EVERY DAY/NIGHT to a child somewhere~ This knowledge always brings tears to my eyes~ By sharing the horrors of the abuse ... maybe one child will be recognized as being sexually abused .... and may the perpetrator rot in the darkest, dungeons for all of time~ *Huglets*  for sharing~~*Marge*~ ~*No matter what I search for ... |

whitedove, The innocense of a child and than the saddest is when the innocense of a child is taken away by someone the child trusts. I work with children on such issues as this and we must all open our eyes and see...and believe in the heart of a child! The website is awesome and I will share this with a few that it could be of great use to. Thanks for bringing this topic to light because you are so very right few people realize how close this topic is to all of us. Hugs to you. pictureme2 |

How sick I felt as I read your beautifully written lines. A child living in fear of the very one they must depend on, is so heartwrenching and digustingly sick. Even a neighbor, cousin, uncle, etc. as horrific as that is, is small in comparison to the PARENT sexually violating their child! A friend of mine remarried only to discover her daughter trying to commit suicide at school because she was being molested by the stepfather. It's caused deep problems for years even with counseling. Hi there, For those who may need it, there are a couple of forum boards that help out survivors of sexual abuse/rape. They are listed on my site www.whitedovesnest.com and well as other resources, as well as my story that this relates to. This scene is played out so many times and unfortunately it is generally a trusted person, parent, relative, friend next door, family friend that causes so much pain. It is unfortunate that more people do not realise the extent of the problem - because it is heart rendering for me as a survivor to see what is happening and the silence that surrounds the issue. |
