In restless sleep strange figures play
In theaters warped vague shapes display

Changing scenes devoid of reason
Faceless ghosts of unknown season

Shadows dance in spectral light
Shapeless things pervade the night

Mindless scenes in empty spaces
Mute dialogue in nameless places

Confused, the dreamer softly moans
Trapped in frames of darkest tones

In endless streams the actors speak
Knowing not the prize they seek

Tangled webs the id embraces
Chaotic maze in logic’s traces

At breaking dawn long sought respite
Until the curtain parts tonight

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

What depth in writing ...

Nice to see you, my friend~

You have caught the frustration of the dream when everything is vague and unknown. may you sleep more soundly, dear friend.  Love, Joyce

pegasus111:  You have captured so well the elusiveness of strange and haunting dreams!
I am certainly aware of what you are saying!

Pegasus 111,
Interesting form, choppy couplets, reflecting restless repose.  The night has a way of exacerbating otherwise harmless thoughts while the subconscience scrambles normal agorisms of logical thinking resulting in disorientation and great unease.
I could relate to this unsettling narrative all too well.  Very nicely done.
