To New Horizons

Our boat is coming in to shore.
We've been here many times before.
It is a safe spot for the night.
We anchor just before the light
Is swallowed by the hills that rise
On either side and block the skies.
Far overhead, one star appears
And like a distant eye, it peers,
Down at our craft to watch it sway
Upon the tide, till break of day.

The night wind brings the scent of rain.
We go below and there remain
Tucked in our bunks and go to sleep,
Lulled by the music of the deep.
With morning, skies are fresh and blue.
We eat, admiring the view.
Then set the sails and catch a breeze,
Which carries us back to the seas
That bypass this secluded bay
And soon has taken us away
To fine adventures we can share
And new horizons, waiting there!

Dear Joyce:  Thanks and it was a peaceful time on board our sailboat..........usually!
We did get caught in storms, fog and once we ran over a basking shark, which was pretty exciting! Didn't hurt the shark but sure scared us!

Ah, the peaceful serenity of sailing~

I've always referred to it as, the silence of silence-in-tow~

Makes me want to go sailing for sure~

Dear Marge:  We used to sail every chance we had, when we lived in Portland and Seattle. I guess I'll always miss those times.  Especially on Puget Sound and the straits leading to the Pacific.

Sounds wonderful. Enjoyed this. Chris

Dear Betty Lou

A wonderful poem of your 'sailing days'!  I could almost smell the ocean and hear the waves lapping at the side of the boat!

Love Isobel xo

Dear Isobel:

Thanks.  I am glad I had the years of sailing that I did.  Made so many wonderful memories.
