The Right of Way

Headed home from town today,
Around a corner, in my way,
There stood a moose of giant size,
Who stared at me with lofty eyes!
I stopped the car to wait him our
And watched him looking all about.

Then suddenly he turned his head
And trotted up the road instead.
He was a pleasure to behold!
Glossy hide, his manner bold.
A mile or so, I trailed behind,
Until he had a change of mind.

Sailed cross a fence into a field,
As though deciding he would yield
The country road to folks like me,
Who are not fortunate to be
Free to wander hill and wood,
But seeing him, I wished I could!

this is a cute one..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I like this Betty.  Wise girl to let him have his way.  My car was struck by a bull  once.  It had gotten out of its pasture and had already been hit by another car and was crazed.  I had come to a full stop but couldn't get out of his way and my car got the worst of the deal.  I had to find another way home.  Lucky I was not too far from my daughter's home. Love, Joyce

pegasus111: I really loved seeing that moose so close.  Usually they are at some distance. I wouldn't call them pretty, but he was a handsome animal. Thanks for reading.

Joyce:  How frightening for you, to have a crazed bull attack your car! I'm glad you weren't hurt! Thanks for reading.

Love
