Could Be Anywhere...

Are We There Yet?

Weeping over coffee
in foreign breakfast nook
so very, very far from home.
Precious lone, last possession
broken, a pile of components
twas last of anything mine.

Sacrifice, redemption, retribution
words like ashes, cinders
tears framed in quivering lip.
Noble words tasting foul
the broken man weeps
last vestige of self laid bare.

Strong, capable, trusted flesh
health the first to be taken
laid low in humbleness.
Acceptance, reluctantly given
disabled…pride lessened, wounded
going on with less, then more.

Jobs, expertise, acuity
follows suite after suite
one by one; pride burned away.
Possessions are next in line
everything once loved, honored
falling away, taken, mourned.

Relationships, friendships, clergy
following the steps of matrimony
lost…one step, one way at a time
Till all left was the word
precious promise never broken
then inexplicably, equally discarded.

Betrayal of core values…word
knowledge left, wisdom right
meaningless layer by deeper layer.
Such a stubborn, foolish man
desperately holding on, grasping
for any, all to salvage, endure.

One last hold out, self refuge
in cyber one may still be uber
excel, glorify, fuel ember of pride.
Taken this morn, ruthlessly
machine just so much bulky garbage
merciless, mechanical death comes calling.

Leaving only what?God alone?
as He has wanted…always, forever?
nothing…absolutely nothing left remains.
Weeping over coffee, silliness
sympathy reaches out patting, comforting
perhaps, finally… are we there yet?

the price paid seems hardly worth it at times, but you know as well as i do that there is only God and His love that we should be listening to. Comfort will come when the right thing is finally done.

life is but a sojourn to some final destination. What we do along the way to deal with life's tribulations determines which one we will arrive at.

You name tells it all Tramp.  You have just never found contentment in your place in the scheme of things.  I guess you must figure out why.  Love, Joyce

being a Tramp is Christlike in my opinion. As for contentment; i would rather be discontent with learning and progress than content with stagnation and comfortable.
i understand my place in the scheme of things quite well... physically and spiritually. Hopefully; i shall never "be there yet" in this lifetime...

What blind faith I had in you then...and likely still do. God and God alone is the answer. I hope and pray you still have that blind faith.
