Have you ever cared for someone very much and had your heart broken, your spirit trampled? Ever feel like your life was over, and you were lost, hopelessly alone? Then, somehow, that special person appeared who lifted you up again, gave you new hope, a new life, and you felt reborn? Then, this piece is for you.
___________________________________________________

The darkness is an endless void
Replete with self pity and despair
Hope, a distant memory, invisible,
Fading into the swirling black hole
Of shattered dreams

Cries of pain and frustration echo endlessly
Soft moaning from the throats of the damned
Permeate the stifling dampness
Bony hands clutch blindly, pathetically, vainly,
For the salvation of the light

The light, lost long ago when the darkness came
Extinguished by avarice, indifference, and pride
Dimmed to a pinpoint, undetectable in the darkness
Until, from above, mercy and love reached down,
Grasping the hand lost in the blackness

The flicker of new beginnings rose from the ashes
Nurtured by tenderness, the glowing coal grew brighter,
Bursting into the bright torch of rejuvenated spirit
Healing the wounds of duplicity and betrayal
With the glorious ascension to your arms.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I tried to find a quote that would sum up the poem with wise words, but alas, I came up with none. No words can sum up faith in others as well as this poem does.

Death is not extinguishing the light;
it is putting out the lamp
because the dawn has come.

pegasus111:  A wonderful poem to mark your return to these pages. So moving and an impressive write.  I hope you aren't writing from personal experience, but have a feeling you are! If you are I am happy to hear the light is with you once more!
