I was so inspired by "Passing Shadows" pen name
that I had to write a poem with the same title. Hope you enjoy.

Passing Shadows

I stood and looked from distant shore
And watched them nudge on more and more
In fundamental shades of darkened grey
No color to their lives it seemed
But somehow there within my dream
Was what could be construed as deep dismay
For shadows crossed and never met
And so these things held in regret
That maybe if they had it might have changed
What lovely times they could have had
What good times missed along with bad
Or conversations mutually exchanged
Between the two upon the lake
That moved so slow across the wakes
Identities withheld from public view
For only time held back the rays
As perfect apex for sun’s blaze
To move the wayward spectacles askew
‘Til comes the day when shadows pass anew.

Lighthouse Bob

Joyce,

You're such a Dear.  Thank you for Saving the Last Dance for Me and I’m always very
happy when I can supply some triple layer German Chocolate Cheese Cake with extra
Extra Rich Chocolate Syrup poured over the top.... I do need to warn you, Joyce,  about
eating like this before going to bed...   You do understand, don’t you, that you just
might have a hard time getting to sleep? LOL Thanks again.

Dixie,

It really is my Honor. When I first read your reply to my poem, it really spoke to me because the presence of your pen name there, passing shadows, was just like you as a poet was there reading my poem, but I really didn't know you. Your pen name on my page was truly like a passing shadow and so that is the imagery that I had going into writing this poem. Like the two proverbial ships in the night that passed and didn't even recognize each other's presence. Again, it is very much my honor to have written this poem in recognition of your pen name, but even more, it is my honor to have had the opportunity to meet you and to know you a bit more through the reading of your poetry. -Bob

Enchantress,

Thank you for your kind reply and I do agree with what you have written here about passing shadows because of what I have read of her poetry and of her humble replies here as well as to others I do believe she certainly is as you have claimed.... Lovely.

Dixie,

You're so Sweet. Thank you for coming back to read. That blushing thing is kind of catchy though.   It seems that others are fond of your pen name also, but I think more than that that they are fond of the person behind the name. You appear to be much loved and respected here on these pages. Thanks again and you're certainly Welcome back any time. -Bob

SEA,

You've felt the same way too??? Isn't it just like "passing shadows" how poets come and
go across these pages and how really really colorful people's lives are be it good times or
bad times shared it really doesn't matter... these shared times are all so inspiring and lovely
and it’s really regretful that we don’t get to know them better. Sorry to ramble. I do like
this part of my poem as well and I do love her pen name. It’s so appropriate.  Thanks my friend
for your kind response.  -Bob

Bob, you did yourself and Dixie proud with this lovely write.  She leaves some gems on the site of wisdom, and life as it really is.  How true this dedicated poem of yours is, as I have had the luxury to go meet quite a few of the "passing shadows" here but wish we could hold a convention or something to link a "live" person with each shadow.  Until then I will continue to be touched in just that way, by their passing shadow.

yes Bob,
I really do feel this way at times, but then...we do get to know each other when we read each other's poetry. It's when the words come from our hearts (those that we write and share here) that we come to know what the other is going through, good and bad. Sometimes we realize we aren't alone in our emotions and that people can relate, and more importantly, we find friends that care.

Mysteria,

Thank you. I know that you are one here who has gone faaaaaar beyond the box, I've read your e-mails, have been inspired by them to read other poet's works, and have seen the pictures shared on line of shared experiences with other poets. You really really do help us all here feel much much more like family. Again, Thank You. After being off the Net for about a year or so due to medical reasons, it was your response that I saw first to an  earlier posting of mine.... Where have you gone? Are you alright???? Sorry to go on and on and I've gone way over again... and this post is supposed to be for passing shadows. Sorry! I do agree with what you have written, Dixie does seem to be very authentic with her feelings and as a poet I can relate easily to her thoughts and poetry and by what I have read so far, she does seem to be a very wise person. Thanks again. -Bob

SEA,

What you wrote here is so very very true. In time as we open up and share our emotions and read the emotions of others, the passing shadows do come together and we do find friends who Love us and who Care. Thank you sooooo much for coming back and sharing that very important thought. -Bob

Thank you for your kind words of agreement to the above. I have really enjoyed all of the positive correspondence that has come as a result of this poem and as a result for the love and respect that people have for passing shadows and I am sure that you would also agree that there are some very very "beautiful" people here at this forum. You do know that I love both Praise and Inspiration... and though I'm sure that I've mentioned it before, it really can't be mentioned enough, What an Awesome Inspiration and so Loved are You. (Smiles) This poem has been an introduction for me to passing shadows and I am sure what words you have written certainly applies to her, but I do know that it certainly applies to you...A friend to keep for the all-of-time. WOW! Now, that is a Most Beautiful inspiration, My Friend. Thank you and a Very Merry Christmas to you too. -Bob

It renders a beautiful image in my mind as I read these words. Hauntingly beautiful.

it is putting out the lamp
because the dawn has come.

If it's ok with the rest of you, I'd like to get a word in here!.. this was a great read for me. I see that I have been missing a lot.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
