When Winter Comes

When winter comes, a silver sky
Lets me know, soon snow will fly
And fill the air with drifting flakes.
Transforming everything, it makes
A scene that we delight to see,
In all its white, tranquility.

When winter comes, ice starts to grow
Along the creek bank and I know
Beneath my boot, that it will crack.
The water down below is black
And moves so sluggishly, as though
It really doesn't want to go.

At Christmastime, our family,
Will come to help us find a tree,
That we can decorate with care,
Displaying treasured baubles there.
Ice crystals bloom on every pane
And trace their magic scenes again.

We see the smoke from heaters rise
In bluish tendrils, to the skies.
The horses harness jingles so,
When we go sleighing cross the snow.
The air is hushed, so cold it hums
And nips your nose, when winter comes!

Sounds very festive.  When I got out of church a while ago a rain/snow was coming down hard.  I have to go back out to a concert so hope it slows down.  Love, Joyce

Dear Joyce:

Thanks for your comments.  We have been having snow all day here but it is slowing down a bit now.  Guess we could get quite a lot out of this storm system.  It's that time of year, so I won't complain!!

Oh ... I so love your poetic flow
but, goodness gracious, Mother Nature knows
I sure don't like the snow~

Shucks ... I was shivering at 52 degrees last night !!!

Love you and give my Ronnie a great big warm *HUGLET* from me~

Merry Christmas, Ronnie~

Dear Marge:

You wouldn't like it here at all right now!
It's around 32 degrees and is going to be much colder overnight.  Lots of snow too!
As a matter of fact, I am not too thrilled with it either!

Thanks for your greetings to Ron and he returns them.

When winter comes she certainly has a unique way of creating her very own Christmas decorations and you have captured that very very well here in your poem. Enjoyed reading. You've inspired me to take a trip up to the snow. -Bob

Hi Bob:

Want to change places with me?  I would like to take a trip "down" from the snow!
The roads are really treacherous today!
Thanks for your remarks.

Betty Lou

It was so nice to view Winter through your eyes and what a wonderful picture you have painted.  As you know there won't be any snow on Christmas Day for me.  It will probably be stinking hot and we'll all be sitting outside in the shade of a tree!!lol

I wish for you and your family much love and happiness over Christmas and throughout the New Year.

Take care.........Sue

Dear Betty Lou

'Santa' is more 'suited' to your winter wonderland than here.

A 'cool' poem.  Eh! Eh!
