Ants crawl on the pavement
outside my store and the same old man
sells carnations.

I'll be here until five o'clock,
waiting for you.  I'd like to apologize,
hold your hand.

When you first walked into my store,
I didn't hear the bell.  You said you
loved books so much, you could never
be a literary critic.

Please come back.  Its picnic season.
we have pages to turn and the book store
is closing.

I really, really enjoyed this poem.  It is pared to the essential but leaves me wanting more.  Thanks and welcome to this corner.  Joyce

Thank you and you warm my heart. No circumstance, simply a metaphor working its way out!  Blessings!
