Seasons Meeting

When the summer meets the autumn
And the winds begin to rise,
Then the moon is orange and bigger,
As it greets September's skies
And the crickets song is endless,
While the flocks of geese pass by,
With their noisy "v" formations
Etched across the evening sky.

There's a lonely feeling growing
Within each shortening day
And I gather many memories,
As October slips away.
Then one morning, snow is showing
On the highest peaks around
And soon winter is upon us,
Though it hasn't made a sound1

But there's still time to savor
Every bright and chilly day
And to gather in the apples,
While the last birds fly away.
As I watch the snow creep closer,
Till it covers everything,
I look forward to the season
When the winter meets the spring!

Dear Betty Lou,

Very lovely poem about the seasons. Actually, I'll be glad when winter rolls around. We have mild winters here in So. California, compared to Wisconsin (where I'm originally from). I'd love to see the snow.

Love,
Patricia

Joyce:  Thanks.  Unfortunately, we are already seeing signs of fall.  we had a really bad wind and sust storm on Monday night and our lawn is covered with leaves torn from the trees.  Some of them were turning already. Also crickets singing twenty-four hours a day!

Patricia:  Thanks.  I wouldn't mind winter if it were mild like yours, but we get so much snow and ice, plus below zero temps. Seems to last much longer than it really does!

Hello Betty Lou

Through your words I was so fortunate to see such a beautiful picture.  I could almost hear the birds calling to one another.  We are nearing the end of Winter here in Melbourne and I have been watching my jonquils come to life over the past few weeks which is the first sign of Spring.

I hope all is well in your life.

Take care.........Sue

Dear Sue:  I imagine you are looking forward to spring!  I always do. Of course, I don't believe you get snow where you are, do you?

Thanks for your remarks and I always enjoy hearing from you.  My husband is not well right now, but the rest of us are doing okay!
