Richard's Heart

His battle began at a very young age,
rejected, forgotten, left filled with rage.
Like a furious storm, his anger increased,
lashed out at those who got in his way.
During the war, as his best friend lay dead,
thoughts of the past whirled round in his head.
His Indian blood had turned people away,
heart breaking slowly, no more could he pray.
Drinking and fighting, lashing out at mankind,
they'd taken his family, leaving nothing behind.
Many years pass, his temples now gray,
as he tends to his orchard he begins to pray.
Along comes an angel, wipes a tear from his eye
and touches his heart with her soft gentle sigh.
Gone is the bitterness, anger and strife,
as Richard's Heart opens to embrace a new life.

'When you find a dream within your heart, don't ever let it go.
For dreams are the tiny seeds from which tomorrow grows.'

Thank you PK for your comment. I much prefer happy endings instead of sad ones which bring me to tears.

Love,
Patricia

You are so right Joyce. Sometimes the most hardened heart can be conquered with a little tenderness and love.
