Only Lent

I read stories of a mother's son
Who hasn't done her proud
And thinking of the boy I raised,
I praise the Lord aloud.

I was so blessed to have had him
Through all his childhood years;
My heart is filled with thankfulness
My eyes are full of tears.

I know I've asked a thousand times
"Why did he have to go,"
Not hearing His soft answer,
"He ws only lent you know."

Upon my knees I'm thanking Him
For the loan of my sweet lad,
Asking forgiveness for the times
I can't help feeling sad.

This was so sad and hard to read, but such a good way of stating things about inner peace, and our struggles with it.

Dear Joyce:  So touching!  It takes awhile to come to the realization that children are "only lent" and some, we are not allowed to keep!

Yes, some of us never know the sadness of losing our own child. Very well penned. Thanks, Melton

Oh! Joyce

This is a very moving piece of poetry indeed.

We all only have our children on 'borrowed time'.

Dear Joyce,

A heart-felt poem that touched me deeply! Sad, yet so true! Our children are not ours to keep, only loaned to us to nurture and love. I believe with all my heart that one day my own son and I will be reunited in heavenly bliss. That hope is what keeps me moving onward.

Lots of love,
Patricia
