Stepping Back

I have stopped and turned
My thoughts have been round
Through days or tremors and pain
Care I, do I, should I abstain

What hope there is in tears
Defying the sombre morning chills
Positioning memoirs on canvas I dare
No not I, nor I, but not fallen still

My grip on reality jostles all
The inner spirit of a soul
Once dimming, now living
Confront me now, my past being

Reel back the play
Tear away at my heart you may
I see a candlelight in thy darkness
And my gratitude rejoices

Time is my friend, ain't not
What do you see ahead of you
That I cannot see
I have survived and I am real

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love
(Daniel J D)

Daniel,

I enjoyed this very much. A wonderfully written poem.
