Dinner for Two

I fix a sandwich and before
I get the first bite in
my sweet Susie comes running from
wherever she has been.

I have fed her a big dinner.
It really is my turn.
That I want to eat without her
gives her a doggie burn.

I try to show I'm eating just
the food she will not touch.
She smells the hidden morsels and
I do not fool her much.

There are times she will allow me
one bite if she gets two.
In order to get any food
I don't have time to chew.

Any plans I plot to fool her
have been too quickly foiled.
I cannot help but wonder how
that good dog got so spoiled.

Dear Joyce,

This is really cute! Gee, I wonder how the doggy got spoiled?

Dear Joyce:  This is such a cute story. We have a chocolate Lab and he watches us with the most soulful look when we are eating. He knows he can't come to the table but we can feel him staring at us! He gets a treat after we are through.

Dear Joyce

Is it 'Man's Best Friend' or 'Dog's Best Friend'.  Susie has got it made.  She knows how to turn the 'tails'.

A lovely verse.

I meet those who share your life in your poetry.  If I were out shopping, and I met up with Susie, I would know her right away!
A delightful poem! (I used to take my dog to McDonald's for a sausage biscuit every Saturday morning).
love, Barb

Susy and I both slept in this morning and woke to find your replies to our poem.  Thank you.  Love, Joyce
