The Perfect Age

If I could live my life again
I might wish to be twenty,
When life and love still lay ahead
And dreams were mine aplenty.

Or it's probable that thirty
Would be just the age for me,
With my three children gathered round
My still young, shapely knee.

Or could I live my life again
I might choose to be forty;
With cares of their early childhood past,
I'd have time to look sporty.

But as I ponder on it,
Life was truly great at fifty.
Free then to love myself a bit;
Yes, fifty would be nifty.

But since I can't go back in time,
I'll love the age I'm living;
Knowing the good Lord is my judge
And that he is forgiving.

Dear Joyce:  I enjoyed your poem.  I have thought about this myself and what age I liked best.  For me it was 35.

Bravo Joyce. Although I would like to be 8-1/2 again. That was a great time.

Joyce~

I used to think
that twenty-two
was just the age
I'd always want to be~

Then I figured out
each year that I'm in
gives me new reasons to shout~

Joy in abundance flows
with each coming year
and when I think of the alternatives
I really want to cheer~

Oh ... oh ... such early morning inspire~
Thank you lady ...~
I'm thinking of you this day and in the remembering days to come~

Dear Joyce,

What a wonderful poem! I had often thought I'd like to turn back the hands of time to my teen years. But after pondering all I have learned over the years, I actually enjoy being my age of fifty-ish? Lol!
